Your second day begins early with an exhilarating Hot Air Balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings. As the sun rises, you’ll be treated to stunning aerial views of Luxor, the Nile River, and the surrounding desert, with the ancient tombs and temples bathed in the golden morning light. After the ride, enjoy a breakfast box before heading to the West Bank of the Nile to start your exploration of the Valley of the Kings. This legendary burial site is home to the tombs of Egypt’s most famous pharaohs, including Ramses II, Seti I, and the famed Tutankhamun.
The tomb of Tutankhamun, discovered in 1922 by Howard Carter, is one of the most significant archaeological finds in history. Unlike many tombs, it was found largely intact, with a wealth of treasures still inside. You’ll enter the tomb and witness the vivid hieroglyphics and intricate murals that cover the walls, depicting scenes from the afterlife. The mummy of the boy king, Tutankhamun, was originally found in the tomb, along with many of his famous treasures, including the iconic golden death mask. Although the treasures are now housed in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, the tomb still holds its mystique and is one of the most visited and fascinating sites in the valley.
Next, visit the awe-inspiring Hatshepsut Temple, a magnificent structure built into the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari. This temple, dedicated to Queen Hatshepsut, one of Egypt’s most successful female pharaohs, is known for its grand terraces, ramps, and stunning architecture. It is one of the most photographed and visually striking temples in Egypt, set against the dramatic backdrop of rocky cliffs.
On your way back, make a stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two enormous statues of Amenhotep III that have stood for over 3,000 years. These massive quartzite statues once guarded the entrance to the king’s mortuary temple and are still an impressive sight today, showcasing the grandeur of ancient Egypt.
After a day filled with exploration, enjoy a traditional lunch at a Nile-view restaurant, where you can savor classic Egyptian dishes like grilled meats, falafel, and fresh salads, all while taking in panoramic views of the Nile and the surrounding landscape.
Following lunch, your private guide will accompany you back to your vehicle, and you’ll begin your journey back to Hurghada. After this unforgettable day exploring Luxor’s most iconic sites, you’ll be dropped off at your hotel in the evening, completing your enriching and memorable tour of Egypt’s ancient wonders.
