Your private tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Cairo or Giza at 8:00 AM, and you’ll begin your journey to the Giza Pyramids Complex, one of the most famous historical sites in the world.
The first stop is the Great Pyramid of Giza, also known as the Pyramid of Khufu or Cheops. This ancient wonder, built during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom, is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in Giza. Standing at a height of 138.5 meters (455 feet), it was originally built to house the tomb of Pharaoh Khufu. The Great Pyramid is the only surviving wonder of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and holds a special place in Egypt’s history. Your guide will explain its intricate construction, history, and significance in ancient Egyptian culture. You’ll also have the chance to visit the burial chamber inside the Great Pyramid for an additional fee of 400 EGP ($25), which allows you to stand where ancient kings were laid to rest.
Next, you’ll explore the Pyramid of Khafre, the second-largest pyramid at the Giza Plateau. This pyramid was built for Pharaoh Khafre, the son of Khufu, and stands at 143.5 meters (471 feet). Unlike the Great Pyramid, Khafre’s pyramid retains some of its original limestone casing at the top, which gives visitors a glimpse of its original splendor. Nearby, you’ll also visit the Valley Temple of King Khafre and take in the spectacular view of the Great Sphinx—the iconic statue with the body of a lion and the head of Khafre. The Sphinx, believed to represent the pharaoh’s power and wisdom, is one of Egypt’s most recognizable symbols.
Afterward, visit the Pyramid of Mykerinos, the smallest of the three pyramids, built for Pharaoh Mykerinos (Menkaure). At just 65 meters (213 feet) tall, this pyramid is much smaller, but still an impressive feat of ancient architecture. Here, you’ll learn more about the pyramid’s construction and its unique features.
No trip to the Giza Pyramids is complete without a memorable camel ride across the desert. You’ll ride through the golden sands with the three pyramids in view, providing the perfect opportunity for photos and a unique perspective of this incredible historical site.
After exploring the ancient pyramids, you’ll be treated to a delicious traditional Egyptian lunch at a local restaurant near the Giza Plateau. Here, you can savor authentic Egyptian dishes such as koshari, falafel, stuffed grape leaves, and shawarma, giving you a true taste of Egyptian cuisine. Your guide will introduce you to the flavors and history behind these famous dishes, offering a well-deserved break before continuing the day’s adventures.
