3 Days Trip To the Grand Egyptian Museum and Luxor from Soma Bay

Day 1 / The Pyramids & the Grand Egyptian Museum

Your exciting 3-day adventure begins with a private car transfer from your hotel in Soma Bay to Cairo. The scenic journey through Egypt’s stunning desert landscapes offers picturesque views of the desert and the Nile River.

Upon arrival in Cairo, your expert Egyptologist guide will meet you at the airport and take you straight to the first stop of your journey.

Your day begins at the Grand Egyptian Museum, located near the Pyramids of Giza. This newly built museum is home to over 100,000 artifacts, including the legendary treasures of King Tutankhamun. Here, you’ll view his famous golden death mask, jewelry, and other priceless relics.

The museum also showcases other pharaohs’ relics, including mummies, statues, and manuscripts that reflect the grandeur of ancient Egypt.

After the museum, enjoy a traditional Egyptian lunch at a local restaurant. Sample delicious dishes like Koshari, Moussaka, and Falafel, along with fresh salads and stuffed grape leaves.

Following lunch, your next stop is the Giza Plateau, home to the Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops), the only surviving wonder of the ancient world. Marvel at the Pyramid of Khufu, the largest pyramid, constructed over 4,500 years ago.

Learn about the engineering brilliance behind its creation and the purpose it served as the tomb of Pharaoh Khufu.

You’ll also visit the Pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, followed by a visit to the Great Sphinx — the massive statue with the body of a lion and the face of a pharaoh.

Hear fascinating stories about the Sphinx’s symbolism and its role in Egyptian mythology.

Finish your day with a visit to the historic Khan El Khalili Bazaar, Cairo’s famous market. Wander through the maze of alleys filled with colorful textiles, jewelry, spices, perfumes, and handcrafted items.

This is a great place to buy souvenirs and experience the vibrant atmosphere of one of Cairo’s most famous markets.

After a day full of exploration, head to your hotel in Cairo to rest and prepare for another exciting day ahead.

Day 2 / Luxor’s East Bank

Start your second day early with a morning flight from Cairo to Luxor. Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to the East Bank of Luxor, home to some of Egypt’s most important and awe-inspiring temples.

Your first stop is the incredible Karnak Temple, one of the largest and most significant religious sites in Egypt. This sprawling complex was built over 2,000 years, showcasing a variety of architectural styles.

The highlight is the Hypostyle Hall, which contains 134 massive columns, some reaching 21 meters in height. Walk through the hall and discover the fascinating hieroglyphs and inscriptions that tell the stories of Egypt’s gods and pharaohs.

Next, visit Luxor Temple, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt. This temple was built by Amenhotep III and expanded by Ramses II.

Explore its monumental statues, towering colonnades, and sacred courtyards, and learn about the religious rituals that once took place here.

After a full morning of exploration, enjoy a relaxing lunch at a local restaurant in Luxor, where you can try traditional Egyptian dishes such as grilled meats, salads, and local specialties, all while enjoying views of the Nile River.

After an unforgettable day, return to your hotel in Luxor. The peaceful atmosphere of the city provides the perfect setting for rest and relaxation, with views of the Nile and surrounding temples.

Day 3 / Luxor’s West Bank – Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Hatshepsut

Start your final day in Luxor with a visit to the Valley of the Kings, Egypt’s most famous burial site. Here, you can explore the tombs of more than 60 pharaohs and nobles, including the tomb of Tutankhamun.

Marvel at the beautifully decorated tombs with scenes from Egyptian mythology and the afterlife. The Tomb of Tutankhamun is a must-see, offering insight into the life and treasures of Egypt’s boy king.

Next, visit the Temple of Hatshepsut, one of Egypt’s most remarkable architectural wonders. Built for Hatshepsut, one of Egypt’s few female pharaohs, the temple features three massive terraces that rise dramatically against the desert cliffs.

Admire the reliefs and murals that depict Hatshepsut’s famous trading expeditions and her divine status.

On your way back to the hotel, stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two massive statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that have stood for over 3,000 years. These statues are a testament to the grandeur of Egypt’s ancient rulers.

Enjoy a final traditional lunch in Luxor, where you can sample more Egyptian favorites, including molokhia (a green leafy stew) or freshly grilled meats.

After lunch, relax during your scenic drive back to Soma Bay, reflecting on the incredible monuments, temples, and tombs you’ve explored. As you make your way back to your hotel, you’ll have memories of Egypt’s rich heritage and timeless wonders to last a lifetime.
