2 Days Trip To the Grand Egyptian Museum and Luxor from Soma Bay
Day 1 / Explore the Grand Egyptian Museum and Pyramids of Giza

Your adventure begins with a comfortable and private transfer from Soma Bay to Cairo, where you will be transported in a private vehicle. As you journey through Egypt’s breathtaking desert landscapes, you’ll enjoy scenic views that offer a glimpse into the country’s rural charm.

Upon arrival in Cairo, you will be greeted by your professional Egyptologist guide, who will be with you throughout your day to offer expert commentary and insights into Egypt’s ancient past.

The first stop on your tour is the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), one of the largest and most impressive museums in the world.

Home to over 50,000 artifacts, this museum showcases the vast history of ancient Egypt.

The Treasures of Tutankhamun are one of the museum’s highlights, with Tutankhamun’s golden mask and his stunning jewelry pieces on display.

You will also get a chance to see the Royal Mummies, preserved remains of Egypt’s most famous rulers, offering a rare glimpse into Egypt’s ancient burial practices. Your guide will walk you through these exhibits, explaining their cultural and historical significance.

After your museum visit, you’ll enjoy a traditional Egyptian lunch at a local restaurant in Cairo, where you can taste famous Egyptian dishes like koshari (a hearty mix of rice, lentils, pasta, and chickpeas), moussaka (a delicious eggplant dish), and falafel. The meal will provide a perfect opportunity to relax and discuss the ancient treasures you’ve seen so far.

In the afternoon, you will head to the Giza Plateau to visit the Pyramids of Giza. These massive structures, built over 4,500 years ago, remain as iconic symbols of ancient Egypt.

Your guide will take you on a tour of the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the largest of the three pyramids, and explain how this architectural wonder was constructed. You’ll also explore the Pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, each with its own unique features.

Don’t forget to capture stunning photos of the Great Sphinx, the massive limestone statue that guards the pyramids, with the body of a lion and the face of a pharaoh, thought to represent Khafre.

After a day filled with history, you’ll be transferred to your hotel in Cairo or Giza to relax and unwind.

Day 2 / Discover Luxor – Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple & Valley of the Kings

After breakfast at your hotel in Cairo, you’ll be transferred to Cairo Airport in a private car to catch your flight to Luxor. Upon arrival, your private Egyptologist guide will meet you at the airport and take you on an exciting day of exploring Luxor’s most iconic historical sites.

Begin your day in Luxor with a visit to the Karnak Temple Complex, one of the largest and most significant religious sites in the world. This sprawling complex is dedicated to the god Amun-Ra, and walking through the grand Hypostyle Hall with its towering columns will feel like stepping back in time.

Your guide will share fascinating stories and insights about the temple’s construction, religious significance, and the rituals that took place there.

Next, visit the Luxor Temple, which sits majestically along the Nile River. This temple is famous for its stunning architecture, including a row of statues and a towering obelisk at its entrance. Your guide will explain the temple’s importance during Egypt’s ancient festivals and its role in the religious life of Luxor.

After your visit to the temples, enjoy a relaxing lunch at a local restaurant overlooking the Nile River. Here, you can savor traditional Egyptian dishes, such as molokhia or grilled fish, while enjoying the serene river views.

In the afternoon, take a short boat ride across the Nile to Luxor’s West Bank, home to the famous Valley of the Kings. This burial site houses the tombs of Egypt’s most powerful pharaohs, including Tutankhamun. Explore the intricately decorated tombs, with their colorful murals that offer a glimpse into ancient Egypt’s beliefs about the afterlife.

Next, visit the stunning Temple of Hatshepsut, built into the cliffs of the Theban Mountains. This mortuary temple, dedicated to one of Egypt’s most famous female pharaohs, is renowned for its grand architecture, with terraces and colonnades that blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings. Learn about Hatshepsut’s extraordinary reign and accomplishments.

Finally, stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two enormous statues that have stood for over 3,000 years. These statues of Amenhotep III once guarded his mortuary temple, and although the temple is now in ruins, the statues remain an awe-inspiring sight.

After an unforgettable day of exploring Luxor, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Soma Bay by private car, where you can relax and reflect on the incredible history and monuments you’ve seen during your trip.
