On the second day, enjoy an early breakfast before your private transfer to Cairo Airport for a short flight to Luxor. Upon arrival, meet your Egyptologist guide and begin your historical tour of Luxor, often referred to as the “world’s greatest open-air museum.”
\Begin with a visit to the awe-inspiring Karnak Temple Complex, one of Egypt’s largest religious sites. Walk through the Hypostyle Hall, featuring 134 towering columns. The complex is dedicated to Amun-Ra, the chief deity in the ancient Egyptian pantheon, and offers an unparalleled view into Egypt’s religious history.
Next, visit Luxor Temple, beautifully located on the banks of the Nile River. The temple is famous for its Avenue of Sphinxes and stunning obelisk at the entrance. This temple played a central role in the Opet Festival, and your guide will provide context on its religious significance.
Enjoy a relaxing lunch at a local restaurant in Luxor, overlooking the Nile River. Indulge in more authentic Egyptian dishes, such as grilled fish or moussaka, while enjoying a peaceful meal by the river.
In the afternoon, head to the Valley of the Kings on the West Bank of Luxor, where the tombs of famous pharaohs like Tutankhamun are located. Explore several tombs with richly decorated walls depicting the journey to the afterlife. Your guide will share stories about the rulers and their burial customs.
Next, visit the stunning Temple of Hatshepsut, one of the most remarkable structures in Egypt, set against the cliffs of the Theban Mountains. This mortuary temple, dedicated to the female pharaoh Hatshepsut, is known for its grand terraces and unique architectural style.
Lastly, stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two enormous statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that have stood for over 3,000 years. These statues are famous for the mysterious sounds they used to produce at dawn, which the ancient Egyptians believed were the voices of the statues.
After your unforgettable tour of Luxor’s treasures, you will be transferred back to Sahl Hasheesh by private car, where you can relax and reflect on the remarkable sights you’ve seen during your two-day adventure.
